The actual summit must be reached, that is the very "tippy-tippy top". Peaks may only be counted once. Cumulative scores progress to peak bagger titles, the titles are:
Less than 50 points - Downright Idle
50 to 99 points - member of Old Laggs Brigade
100 to 199 points - Dishonourable Peak Bagger
200 to 399 points - Honorable Peak Bagger
400 + points - Peak Bagger Extraordinaire
The peak-baggers guide dates back to 1968, to an article by Tim Christie, "A Peak Bagger's Guide to Tasmania", The Tasmanian Tramp. And later revised by Geoff Morffew, "Peak-Baggers Guide revised", The Tasmanian Tramp.
Peaks are rated from 1 to 10 points, based on notability, accessability, height, time, and terrain. There are a total of 412 peaks, with a maximum score of 836. The peaks in this list are grouped into geographical areas. There is also an Excel file that can be downloaded.
